Very different candidates will have different strategies.
President Donald Trump and challenger Joe Biden will enter the debate hall in Cleveland Tuesday evening carrying different ideas, which likely means they will pursue different strategies for putting them forth.
President Trump, seeking to continue into a second term, will probably focus on the accomplishments of his first term, particularly those that came before the closures and lockdowns of the coronavirus.
Former Vice President Biden, in contrast, wants to be seen as a calm and unifying figure, reassuring voters that he is more knowledgeable on matters of both foreign and domestic policy.
Five topics will be covered, according to the moderator: the president’s and former vice president’s records, the Supreme Court, COVID-19, the economy, race and violence in U.S. cities, and the integrity of the election.
The debate is scheduled from 9:00 to 10:30 p.m. EDT. It will be broadcast on Fox News television and other services will live stream videos online. The moderator is Chris Wallace, the anchor of Fox News Sunday.
